Moments of Quietness

Christ, our all in all,
into your presence I come, Lord;
a few moments of quietness,
closeness
in a busy world
that demands my attention.
Breathe on me now,
that I might know your power
to see this day though.

Christ, as a light illumine and guide me

"Canticle"

Christ, as a light
illumine and guide me.
Christ, as a shield
overshadow me.
Christ under me;
Christ over me;
Christ beside me
on my left and my right.
This day be within and without me,
lowly and meek, yet all-powerful.
Be in the heart of each to whom I speak;
in the mouth of each who speaks unto me.
This day be within and without me,
lowly and meek, yet all-powerful.
Christ as a light;
Christ as a shield;
Christ beside me
on my left and my right.

We thirst for you, O Christ

John 7:37-38 Jesus said, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me, and let the one who believes in me drink. As the scripture has said, ‘Out of the believer’s heart shall flow rivers of living water.’”

Lord, it is night. The night is for stillness

Lord it is night. The night is for stillness. Let us be still in the presence of God. It is night after a long day. What has been done has been done; what has not been done has not been done. Let it be. The night is dark. Let our fears of the darkness of the world and of our own lives rest in you. The night is quiet. Let the quietness of your peace enfold us, all dear to us, and all who have no peace. The night heralds the dawn. Let us look expectantly to a new day, new joys, new possibilities. In your name we pray. Amen.

I Arise Today

I arise today
embraced in the arms
of God the Father,
empowered by the strength
of God the Spirit,
immersed in the love
of God the Son.
I arise today
in the company
of the Trinity,
Father, Spirit and Son.
I arise today.

Now That Daylight Fills the Sky

Now that the daylight fills the sky, we lift our hearts to God on high,
That he in all we do or say, Would keep us safe from harm today.

Keep watch, dear Lord, with those who work, or watch, or weep this night

Keep watch, dear Lord, with those who work, or watch, or
weep this night, and give your angels charge over those who
sleep. Tend the sick, Lord Christ; give rest to the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the joyous; and all for your love's sake. Amen.

Oceans of Interstellar Space

Almighty God,
You are author of life.
We are in awe of your creation.
The vast oceans of interstellar space reflect your majesty. Hold us in your celestial brightness as we rest and sustain in us your peace as we refresh ourselves for a new day.
Amen.

Life is Short

I posted this a long while back on my main blog page, CARSONIA, but it also fits well here and is an absolute FAVORITE of mine! I hope you enjoy it too! :-)

My friends,
Life is short, and we do not have
much time to gladden the hearts of
those who travel with us, so be swift to
love and make haste to be kind.
And may the blessing of the One who
made us, and the One who loves us, and
the One who travels with us, be with
you and those you love this day and always.
AMEN.

Morning Has Broken

"Morning has broken, like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for the springing fresh from the world"

For the Beauty of the Earth

For the beauty of the earth,
for the glory of the skies,
for the love which from our birth, over and around us lies;
Lord of all, to thee we raise
this our hymn of grateful praise.
For the beauty of each hour
of the day and of the night,
hill and vale, and tree and flower, sun and moon, and stars of light; Lord of all, to thee we raise...this our hymn of grateful praise.

God of Rain and Sun

God of rain and sun, of cold and warmth, of grey days and brightness,

We are here amidst the puddles. Open our hearts to see beyond the dull and damp and keep us refreshed and willing to serve. Help us practice gratitude for your showers of blessings upon us.

For Beauty and Wonder of God's Creation

“For the beauty and wonder of your creation, in earth and sky and sea. We thank you, Lord.”

A Hymn to the Morning Sun

The glorious sun has driven far
The mystic shades of night;
So in our souls the morning star
Hath shed His wondrous light.

The Whisper of the Father

May the whisper
of the Father
be the one that wakens you;
the open hand
of the Son
be the one that raises you;
the prompting
of the Spirit
be the one that sends you,
this morning
and all mornings,
and leads you safely home.

Lord, Be with Us

Lord, be with us this day,
Within us to purify us;
Above us to draw us up;
Beneath us to sustain us;
Before us to lead us;
Behind us to restrain us;
Around us to protect us.

A Celtic Morning Prayer

May this be a day of hope,
of expectation,
of relishing each moment
as a gift from you.
May this be a day of freedom,
of breaking free,
of loosening the chains that
still surround us.
May this be a day of peace,
of wholeness,
of knowing that our lives
are in your hands.
May this be a day of joy,
of blessing,
of living in your kingdom
as a child of God.

Seek Him that Maketh the Seven Stars and Orion

"Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name."

Deep Peace, a Celtic Traditional Prayer

Deep peace I breathe into you,
Deep peace, a soft white dove to you;
Deep peace, a quiet rain to you;
Deep peace, an ebbing wave to you!
Deep peace, red wind of the east from you;
Deep peace, grey wind of the west to you;
Deep peace, dark wind of the north from you;
Deep peace, blue wind of the south to you!
Deep peace, pure red of the flame to you;
Deep peace, pure white of the moon to you;
Deep peace, pure green of the grass to you;
Deep peace, pure brown of the earth to you;
Deep peace, pure grey of the dew to you,
Deep peace, pure blue of the sky to you!
Deep peace of the running wave to you,
Deep peace of the flowing air to you,
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you,
Deep peace of the sleeping stones to you!
Deep peace of the Yellow Shepherd to you,
Deep peace of the Wandering Shepherdess to you,
Deep peace of the Flock of Stars to you,
Deep peace of the Son of Peace to you.

An Episcopal Prayer for Evening

God, grant as we discover the fascinating wonders and mysteries of the universe,
we may come to know you more truly.
And now, as we have come to the Sun's hour of rest;
the lights of evening round us shine;
We hymn Thee, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
APOD, The Orion Bullets

A Prayer for the Cold and Homeless and Those Who Care for Them

God of compassion,
your love for humanity was revealed in Jesus,
whose earthly life began in the poverty of a stable
and ended in the pain and isolation of the cross:
we hold before you those who are homeless and cold
especially in this bitter weather.
Draw near and comfort them in spirit
and bless those who work to provide them
with shelter, food and friendship.
We ask this in Jesus' name.
Amen.
